On Wednesday March 20th, 2019 at 8:06 PM, Hernandez was riding his Suzuki motorcycle eastbound in the 2500 block of Culebra Rd. A brown extended cab pickup with a ladder rack, possibly a late 90’s to early 2000’s Chevrolet, rolled through the stop sign at NW 28th and pulled into the path of Hernandez’s motorcycle. Hernandez took evasive action, but was unable to avoid the collision. The driver of the pickup did not stop to render aid to Hernandez and fled the scene. Hernandez was transported to University Hospital, but died shortly after arrival at the hospital. The truck should have damage to the left side near the rear tire. Investigators believe the owner or driver of the truck may live or work in the area where the crime occurred.
