Just after 1am on Wednesday August 7, 2019 a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the sidewalk of E. Houston St. Witnesses reported a speeding vehicle cross into oncoming traffic and onto the sidewalk, where it struck the victim. The suspect driver fled westbound on E. Houston St., then northbound on N. St Mary’s St. traveling in the wrong direction on a one-way street. Minutes later, the hit-and-run vehicle was seen around the intersection of N Flores St and W. Commerce St. The victim was transported to SAMMC with life-threatening injuries and was taken into surgery. Investigators believe the vehicle is a silver or gray a Nissan 4-door hatchback, possibly a Nissan Versa Note.
