On Friday, February 23, 2024, at approximately 5:39 PM, an unknown heavy-set Hispanic male suspect entered the Saks Fifth Ave located at 7400 San Pedro Ave (North Star Mall) and walked around. The suspect grabbed three pairs of “Saint Laurent” sunglasses and attempted to conceal them on his person. The Victim, who works for Asset Protection at the location, confronted the suspect as the suspect passed the point of sale. The suspect ran out of the door, which took the door from the hinges. The Victim attempted to apprehend the suspect in the parking garage and both fell to the ground. While the suspect was on top of the Victim, the suspect told the Victim to stop or he would be shot. Fearing for his life, the Victim gave up and followed the suspect to an awaiting White Nissan Patriot. The suspect fled the location.
